Babol The Walking Box is a premium adventure game for PC by developer Gamecom Team. In it, players control a quirky box character that goes on a grand journey through a large open world. They will face a variety of enemies, as well as dangerous beasts to avoid.

Similar to Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, Babol The Walking Box combines open-world exploration with platforming mechanics. New players can opt to try the demo prologue version first before they decide to make a purchase to get a feel for the gameplay and know more about the story.

It's a box world

Video games feature some of the most creative and memorable characters that attempt to relate with gamers on a personal level. From warriors hardened by battle to heroines standing up for truth and justice. These leading men and women make the experience more grounded and immersive. Here then comes Babol The Walking Box, completely out of left field, with its unique protagonist: a box.

In this game you journey through multiple biomes: from a lush forest to an icy mountain path. You'll encounter enemies such as plant-like creatures that you need to defeat to proceed. Occasionally, deadly beasts will appear looking to eat you, and you have to try your best to hide and escape their clutches. Also, traps are all around, such as exploding boxes, that you need to avoid.

What's more, there are other box characters around that you can meet and interact with. Work together to figure out what is happening to your box world and how to make things right again. Now, while the game does offer support for third-party gamepads, the controls themselves are a bit finicky. The experience ends up being unresponsive and a little slow, which is not great for platforming.

Step outside the box

Comparisons between Babol The Walking Box and Crash Bandicoot will be inevitable, and they're not necessarily a bad thing. The latter is a classic platforming adventure game that was loved by many, and the former does an admirable job of replicating that experience in its own quirky and charming way. Hopefully, the controls get tweaked and adjusted soon. Nevertheless, this is worth a try.
